| In the last few weeks, both Compaq and IBM have
suspended their plans to integrate the Transmeta
Crusoe chip into their computers.
Compaq's PC Group had intended on using the Crusoe
chip in their Armada line of notebook PCs. IBM had
also planned on using the same chip in their
One of the main causes for this could be the
benchmarks which PC Magazine had released on
the Transmeta chip. On their Winstone benchmark,
the Transmeta chip performed at about one-third
of the speed of the Intel chips.
Transmeta has not rebutted any of the low benchmark
scores and Intel is slated to introduce a low-power
Pentium III chip.
