Imagine a television that shows an aquarium with fishes which respond to movement and sound from the surrounding area instead of the videotapes which are sold. An interactive real life digital aquarium for your own television with different fish characters.
We want a television that shows an aquarium with fishes that respond to movement and sound from the surrounding area instead of the videotapes which are sold and show videofootage of aquariums. If something or someone approaches the aquarium, the fishes react on the object in a natural way like curiousity. If a loud noise is produced, fishes will be scared away. The aquarium may have several kinds of fishes which all react in a different manner, depending on the kind of fish. This way you create an interactive reallife digital aquarium for your own television.
Nowadays, there are aquariums on televisions but none of them react like an actual aquarium. The reasons for choosing an aquarium are:
# In general: Aquariums and the fishes in it have a relaxing effect on humans
# A virtual fish is more realistic than other virtual animals since the screen of a television resembles an actual aquarium and in real life you show less affection to fishes than you do with cats or dogs.
With the use of multimedia and interaction we fill the gaps between television aquariums and real ones. Real ones are expensive and difficult to maintain, while television ones are too fake and don't react at all.
